Millions of people are facing severe food and water shortages in Somalia. Due to years of consecutive drought, the weakest people are hardest hit. With no rain in sight, livestock continue to die, collapsing the economy and forcing a mass exodus of people to other areas. Somalia is a devastated land, a country that has unfortunately, been largely forgotten by the outside world despite its enormous need for immediate assistance. Thousands of children are dying every day!
The Somali-Canadian community in partnership with Human Concern International is organizing a fundraising event:
What: Community BBQ
When: Sunday, July 24th, 2011, from 12pm (noon) to 7pm
Where: Vincent Massey Park
All proceeds will go towards Human Concern International’s campaign to raise funds for the drought victimsCountless lives have been saved through Human Concern International’s (HCI) projects in the affected areas of Somalia in the past. We must intervene now to avert a full-scale humanitarian disaster and save the lives of thousands of vulnerable victims. Human Concern International (HCI) is a Canadian, Federally Registered, charitable organization existing “to help alleviate human suffering” by Investing in Humanity- http://humanconcern.org/ur?gent_somalia_drought.php
